Meh Meh Yang 'Meh Meh Yang' seeks to explore the notion of dreams through the work of Shanghai based designer, Danful Yang. Yang created the Meh Meh Yang collection of carved sheep as a response to a quote which when translated from Chinese says, “Dream for a world with no time to dream.” Yang argues, “You have to sleep then it will be possible to have dreams, but if you have problems sleeping, people normally will count ‘sheep’, so sheep are the bridge for people between reality and dreaming.” Yang explains, “The world is too busy to have dreams. Every day, people walk through the noisy city, in and out of crowded subways without seeing the tired and numb expression on their faces. However, dreams, like diamonds, should not fade with a busy life, but become brighter. I hope Meh Meh Yang and Baa Baa Yang will be able to remind people of dreams, ideals, goals. Sometimes, what people need is not just kissing and touching or eating to survive, but a kind of heroic dream in the exhausted life.” |
